Boat Washdown Pump System

Jabsco washdown pumps keep your boat clean and shipshape

Whether you're rinsing saltwater and bird droppings off the deck or mud off an anchor, an onboard washdown system provides a convenient means to hose down the deck, cockpit, and anchor after a day of boating – which extends the life of deck surfaces and essential equipment. From a safety standpoint, slimy decks are a slip-hazard, while walking about the deck with sand or grit underfoot can damage gelcoat and painted finishes. Cleaning muddy anchor rods prior to storage also keeps pump-clogging debris out of bilges and anchor locker drains.

What is a boat washdown pump and what does it do?

Boat washdown pumps are electric pumps that provide pressurized water for your onboard washdown system. These pumps deliver water from your freshwater or livewell tank to your deck usually through a spray hose to wash and clean the different elements of your deck surface and anchor.

What type of washdown pump is best for my boat?

When selecting a boat washdown pump, boat owners should consider pump capacity. Washdown pump capacity is rated in gallons per minute (GPM) or liters per minute (LPM). Diaphragm pumps in the 3 GPM (11 LPM) to 6 GPM (23 LPM) range meet the needs of most small and medium-sized boats. These pumps generally provide pressures in the 60 to 70 psi (4.1 to 4.8 BAR) range, which is more than enough to remove whatever nature leaves behind.

Additional tips when selecting a freshwater pump include verifying the proper voltage, current draw, and fuse size for your system. Typically for washdown pumps, the higher the flow and the higher the pressure, the better. Lastly, be sure you have all the necessary accessories like strainers, adapters, and appropriate trigger and hose length for your boat.

Jabsco washdown pump offered from Xylem

Too much pressure can damage paintwork and other surfaces; too little pressure won't shift the dirt. Jabsco pressure-controlled boat washdown pumps generate a vigorous jet of water to wash away mud and slime without damage to the surface underneath. The pump stops and starts automatically at the touch of a trigger, giving you full control over the flow and direction of the jet.

With their rugged design and reliable performance, Jabsco HotShot Series boat washdown pumps are easy to install and use fresh or salt water to wash down your deck. So whether you're deep sea fishing or back at the dock, Xylem offers a complete washdown solution, including hoses, nozzles, and quick-release connectors.

Available in a range of flows and pressures, our boat washdown pumps come with higher shut-off pressure switches to prevent on/off cycling, while saltwater compatible trigger nozzles let you blast off mud and dirt and then rinse down.
