Xylem at WEFTEC 2024: Partnering with utilities to address water challenges

Next week is WEFTEC 2024, the premier event for water quality professionals. Xylem will be showcasing a comprehensive suite of solutions designed to move, treat, measure, maintain and optimize water systems. One utility, New York’s Great Neck Water Pollution Control District, will be presenting how Xylem Vue powered by GoAigua has empowered them to optimize their wastewater management systems.

WEFTEC, the Water Environment Federation’s Technical Exhibition and Conference, is the largest annual water quality exhibition in North America, taking place in New Orleans from Oct. 5-9. The event will draw over 21,000 participants and 1,000 exhibitors from around the world. Xylem, a gold sponsor of the event, will be presenting innovative water solutions designed to help utilities address critical water challenges such as extreme weather, aging infrastructure, and emerging regulations.

Empowering water operators with comprehensive solutions

At WEFTEC, Xylem will be showcasing solutions that empower customer and communities to build a water-secure world in five key categories:

Move: Xylem provides innovative pumping and control systems that streamline water operations, manage wastewater with smart modular systems, and enhance sustainability with energy-efficient designs.

Treat: Our advanced treatment technologies focus on nutrient removal, contaminant elimination (including PFAS), and regulatory compliance, offering both permanent and mobile solutions to meet water treatment needs.

Measure: Xylem’s precise measurement tools help utilities monitor water quality, operational efficiencies, and sustainability goals through data-driven insights.

Maintain: We offer pipeline management, asset maintenance, and repair solutions that extend infrastructure life and optimize operational strategies, supported by 24/7 field services.

Optimize: Xylem’s digital platforms, such as Xylem Vue powered by GoAigua, integrate and standardize data across systems, offering utilities a comprehensive view of their operations to streamline management and focus on core strengths.

Great Neck Water Pollution Control District's wastewater system

A success story of moving and optimizing water

New York’s Great Neck Water Pollution Control District (GNWPCD) serves more than 25,000 residents and operates a wastewater treatment plant with a daily capacity of 5.3 million gallons. Over the past eight years, the district has modernized its operations by adopting Xylem’s Flygt pumps in lift stations, reducing the number of pump types in use and making the system more efficient.

Recently, GNWPCD took a significant step to further improve operational efficiency by adopting Xylem Vue powered by GoAigua. This digital platform integrates data from multiple supervisory control and data acquisition systems, providing a unified view of the district’s wastewater collection system. The platform simplifies operations, offering real-time data and insights that enhance daily work, repairs, and responses to storm events.

Christopher Murphy, the Superintendent of Great Neck Water Pollution Control District, emphasizes the value of these tools:

“Our goal is to empower our teams with the best tools and technologies available. These solutions enhance and simplify our operational capabilities and also align perfectly with our vision of a smarter, more resilient wastewater system.”

WEFTEC attendees can learn more about Great Neck’s journey toward streamlining operations on Monday, Oct. 7, from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m., at Xylem’s booth (#4429).
