Challenge: The Witten plant supply drinking water to approximately 100,000 inhabitants. The vast majority of the water comes from the Ruhr River as artificially enriched groundwater. The risk of contaminants from surface water, especially of microbiological nature, requires an intensive, multi-step treatment process.
