Xylem and Idrica Partner To Accelerate Digital Transformation Of Water Utilities
Accelerating our efforts to make digital technology easier for customers to deploy and use, Xylem is teaming up with Idrica, a leader in water data management and analytics with a background in water utility operations.
Xylem will partner with Idrica to bring together Xylem’s portfolio of digital solutions, with Idrica’s GoAigua technology. As part of the partnership, the companies will offer an integrated software and analytics platform – Xylem Vue powered by GoAigua – that enables water and wastewater utilities to connect and manage their digital assets and streamline operations in a simple, secure and holistic view.
Under the partnership, Xylem will distribute Idrica’s GoAigua technology globally and will take a minority stake in Idrica. The companies will also enter into a joint development agreement for new technologies.
Making Waves spoke with Rocio Echeverria, Vice President of Water and Energy Measurement at Xylem, and Jaime Barba, Idrica’s Chief Executive Officer, to discuss the partnership and how it will drive the water sector forward.
Q. Explain the thought process behind the partnership.
Rocio: Partnering with Idrica directly supports Xylem’s strategy to accelerate the digitization of global water utilities and the broader water sector. We created Xylem Vue to combine the power of hardware, software, and service capabilities across Xylem’s entire portfolio. This partnership builds on that work by providing a vendor-agnostic platform that makes digital solutions easier to implement and use – helping utilities to provide safe, reliable, and equitable service to their communities.
Whether water operators are working with one digital solution or many, whether they have products from Xylem or our competitors, this new platform allows them to integrate everything into a single, user-friendly system. Bringing together Xylem’s global reach and digital portfolio with Idrica’s proven technology platform – created by utilities for utilities – positions us to better serve water utilities of all sizes with the modular, scalable solutions they need.
Jaime: Developed over a 15-year period in partnership with utility operators, the GoAigua water management platform has been implemented in more than 300 water utilities globally. Idrica’s combination of software and water knowledge provides us with exceptional insight into customer needs. Now, Xylem Vue powered by GoAigua will bring together Xylem and Idrica’s technical depth (from assets to analytics) and operational knowledge to create an even stronger offering.

Q. What can customers expect?
Rocio: As utilities plot their digital transformation, this is the platform they need to move faster and maximize every investment. Xylem Vue powered by GoAigua will provide water managers with a faster path to digital integration – from equipment optimization to data gathering, analysis, and reporting. This modular, scalable, platform gives utilities a 360-degree view to optimize operations and tackle their most significant challenges in an affordable, sustainable way. For existing Xylem customers, the platform will support greater connectivity and simplify maintenance and operations.
Jaime: The partnership is another leap forward for utility managers and operators who want a simple, secure water-specific digital platform that drives operational value.

Q. How do you see this partnership developing?
Jaime: Idrica was founded by Fomento Urbano de Castellón S.A. to bring our technology and utility operations experience worldwide. Teaming up with Xylem is an exciting opportunity to accelerate the achievement of that goal through Xylem´s global reach and customer relationships in over 150 countries.
Rocio: We’re energized by the possibilities to continue to meet our customers’ needs as they navigate their digital transformation. The innovative solutions Idrica has developed come from working hand-in-hand with the actual users. Through our partnership, we will work together to develop new solutions and accelerate our innovation agenda as we now have enhanced access to utility operations to design and test solutions in real time.
