  • HVAC Regulations

We want our heating to warm us, ventilation to deliver plenty of fresh air and air conditioning to keep us cool, but our HVAC must also comply with regulations

Meeting Regulatory Compliance For HVAC Applications & Circulation

There’s nothing worse than the heating breaking in the middle of winter. Except perhaps the air conditioning going haywire at the height of summer. When the temperatures dip we rely on heating to warm us up. Heat waves leave us scrabbling for the nearest fan and a great air con system. Both hot and cold weather can leave us feeling stifled if we don’t have proper ventilation.

In short, we’re creatures of comfort. There are a lot of systems that have to run efficiently in order to keep the inhabitants of a building happy. But functionality is not the only concern when designing and maintaining a HVAC system. Those same systems also need to be compliant.

HVAC Regulations

The Energy Related Products (ErP) Directive outlines the energy efficiency requirements for any energy-related product, including products that have an indirect impact on energy consumption, such as water using devices.

Additionally, Directive (EU) 2018/2002 (amending Directive 2012/27/EU) on energy efficiency outlines a mandatory requirement for remote reading capability for heat metering. This is applicable to any metres and heat cost allocators installed after 25 October 2020.

Heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems fall under the ErP Directive, and must also meet certain energy efficiency standards in order to be compliant. Meanwhile, heat metres are needed to measure the hot water flowing into a heating system. Remote reading capabilities ensure the cost-effective, frequent provision of consumption information, allowing for greater energy efficiency.
