Water for Chile
With Ingenieros SF Chile
Strengthening water access for agroecological Lighthouse Schools
In La Araucanía, Chile, many small agroecological farms face severe water shortages due to irregular land tenure, lack of infrastructure, and climate-related challenges. Agroecological “Lighthouse” Schools, which serve as community demonstration sites for sustainable agriculture, struggle to maintain production and teaching activities without reliable water.
Xylem Watermark and Ingenieros Sin Fronteras are joining forces to deploy sustainable rainwater harvesting systems that strengthen resilience, promote agroecological practices, and provide communities with practical, replicable solutions.
Xylem solution
- Installation of rainwater harvesting systems with gutters, filters, and storage tanks
- Technical guidance and training for farmers on collection, treatment, and maintenance
- Volunteer engagement to support system implementation and community learning
Beneficiaries: Around 500 people, including farmers, students, and community members
