Water for United States

With DigDeep

In El Paso County, Texas, thousands of families live in colonias, neighborhoods that developed over decades without promised infrastructure like paved roads, electricity, sewage, or safe water. Because these communities are small and scattered, local governments often deem the cost of connecting them to waterlines too high. As a result, families spend hundreds of dollars each month hauling or purchasing unsafe water, or rely on unregulated wells.

Xylem Watermark is partnering with DigDeep to bring safe water directly to homes in colonias. With a $10,000 grant from Xylem, DigDeep is connecting 21 households in the Bills & Newman colonia to the main waterline for the very first time.

Xylem solution

  • Extend waterlines to reach homes that have never had running water
  • Install fire hydrants to improve community safety
  • Ensure sustainable water access for families who have relied on unsafe or costly alternatives

Beneficiaries: 21 families in the Bills & Newman colonia

  • Access to clean, running water and sanitation transforms lives—fueling health, dignity, and opportunity. For families who have lived without it, a working tap and toilet changes everything.
