Instrument Readiness: Connector Pin Lubricants

Plug and Play Accessibility

Duration: 1:46

We are often asked what is a safe lubricant to use on the connector pins of our instruments with wet-mateable connectors. The best thing to use is a silicon spray. Silicon grease can also be used, but only in small amounts. If too much grease is smeared on the pins, then the connector won’t seal properly. NEVER use WD-40 or any type of contact cleaner. These products will eat away at the rubber on the connectors. If it eats away enough rubber then water may seep in and corrode the connector pins and cable.
