Instrument Readiness: Pressure Sensor Care

Proper Cleaning Ensures Good Data

Kesto: 2:01

For systems with a pressure sensor, proper cleaning will keep the data accurate and the sensor reliable. Whenever the system is removed from the water, immediately rinse the pressure port (where the instrument housing is open to the pressure sensor) with water. This is particularly important for sediment-laden environments and bottom-mounted systems. Do not let sediment dry in a pressure port! It is much easier to recover from sediment buildup when it is dealt with while still wet, than when after it has dried.
